Welcome to our first ever Car of the Week, where we feature BTE customers and the cars they love to drive and race. Today’s spotlight is on Casey Swift and his ’70 Ford Maverick, all the way from Paradise, Texas.

How did you get into drag racing?
My dad started taking me to the races as soon as I could walk. My granddad, my dad and my uncle all race. When I got the first junior dragster in ’95 I was hooked.
When and where was your first race?
My first race was at Texas Raceway in Kennedale, TX.
What do you race now?
I traded my ’97 Strickland Jr. straight across for my current ’70 Ford Maverick.
What is your car’s nickname?
My wife calls this car the “other ole lady.” Guess she thinks I treat the car better than her. LOL.
What’s under the hood?
It currently has an SBC with Turbo 400 and runs on alcohol.
Which BTE products do you use in your vehicle?
I run a 5500 BTE Converter.
Why do you use BTE?
I actually run BTE because it came with a package I bought, broke my converter and threw that one in and it’s been working flawlessly.
Someone you look up to in racing?
My pops, followed by Gary Scelzi.
If money were no object, what would you drive?
I would definitely have a pro stock, but I love bracket racing so I’d have a Mullis dragster or TNT, and I would have already put a new trans in my car from last weekend’s problems (lol).
What is your pre-race ritual (if you have one)?
Hoping all week I don’t have to work Saturday.
